Keeping Health Care Affordable and Accessible
Our contract with UConn Health ended on November 30, 2025. We continue to do everything we can to reach a fair agreement that keeps them in our network. However, UConn is requesting rate increases that would drive up health care costs significantly for our members and local employers.
Our contract with The University of Connecticut Health System (UConn Health) expired
UConn Health is now out of network for Aetna Commercial and Medicare Advantage health plans, as of December 1, 2025.
Members who continue receiving care from a provider who is no longer part of their health plan network will likely pay more out of pocket than when the provider was in network. The amount depends on whether their health plan covers services from providers not in their plan’s network. Generally, members pay less out of pocket when they use providers in their plan’s network. We recommend members check their health plan details before seeing a provider not in their plan’s network to understand their costs.
We will continue to advocate for you
Our goal is to help members maintain access to the doctors they know and trust. At the same time, affordability is an important part of health care access. The prices set by providers for their health care services have a direct impact on the out-of-pocket costs that members pay, as well as the cost to employers for their employee health plans. We are focused on avoiding price increases for health care services that would significantly increase costs for our members and plan sponsors. We want to reach a fair agreement that keeps the costs affordable for members and plan sponsors.
